Phapu at Mera Peak

Mera Peak 6476m is the highest trek in Nepal. It lies south of Everest and overlooks the heavily forested Hinku and Honzu Drangkas valleys.

J.O.M Roberts and Sen Tensing were the first to summit Mera on May 20, 1953.

The ascent does not really present any technical difficulties. It is a moderate slope snow race. A challenge accessible to mountaineers wishing to make their first 6000.

There are several routes to reach Mera Peak. This one is a superb loop which leaves from Phapu to arrive at Lukla in 17 days. A regular ascent for perfect acclimatization via the Tragsindho La pass at 3071m. You arrive at the village of Pangum via the Dudh Khosi river "the river of milk". Then you reach the base camp at 5414m. From the summit of Mera Peak, the reward is there with one of the most beautiful panoramas in Nepal. A view of five Himalayan giants over 8000m: Cho-Oyu, Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, Lhoste.
