Island Peak climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek is a fantastic experience in the Himalayas of Nepal. It is the most popular trekking destination of Everest Base Camp for the close-up views of Mt. Everest before scaling the Island Peak designed for energetic and physically fit trekkers with little or no experience in mountain expedition. Island Peak (6,189m/20,305ft) is one of the main climbing peaks in the Everest Region of Nepal with an impressive and highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier. Island Peak was named so due to its position at the center of the Valley, like an Island in a sea of ice. Its local name is Imja Tse. Being one of the ‘trekking peaks’ with very little technical aspects, Island Peak is not a difficult undertaking for a beginner climber wishing to enter the incredible world of mountain climbing.

We take a flight to Lukla and trek up the Dudh Kosi Valley, surrounded by the soaring peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. It’s a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, capital of the Khumbu Sherpas, where we are again greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. We trek and take a route in our way to Everest base camp and Island peak via Khumjung and Phortse village which ensures proper accommodation and exploration.

From the summit of Island peak, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the giant mountains, Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) make a semi-circle in the north. The panoramic views of Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7129m) in the east and famous expedition peak of Amadablam (6812m) in the south is fantastic as well. After the visit to the Thyangboche monastery to end our unforgettable adventure climbing trip to Island peak with Everest base camp and Kalapathar and we return back to Lukla.
